Dream of running a half or full marathon but held back by burnout or injury?
With time-based progressions and heart rate zone training, this program builds real endurance to help you go farther than you imagined.
Run smart. Go farther. Finish strong.
Built for beginner to intermediate runners - from those starting their first program to athletes returning after time off - this plan balances progressive endurance development with injury history, recovery needs, and individual capacity.
Whether you’re building a foundation, returning from setbacks, or aiming for new milestones, it’s designed to help you develop lasting endurance without burnout, breakdown, or plateaus.
Training volume increases gradually through total time spent in target zones, helping you peak at race week without sudden spikes.
Each phase builds on the last, layering aerobic work, lactate threshold training, and peak intensity efforts at the right time to maximize cardiovascular capacity and endurance.
Because this program is heart-rate driven, it adapts to terrain, environment, and your readiness - adjusting for hills, heat, and recovery to keep you training at the right intensity every time.
Integrated strength training is tailored to the demands of long-distance running, building tissue resilience to boost performance and reduce injury risk - targeting common problem areas like the Achilles, patellar tendon, feet, and hips.
Everything is delivered through the app, with built-in tracking, support resources, and features that track and gamify your training experience
Sten Stray-Gundersen, PhD, is a researcher and practitioner in the field of blood flow restriction training. He earned his MS and PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas at Austin, where his research focused on the cardiovascular safety profile and vascular responses to BFR and hypoxia.
Now, a Assistant Professor at The University of South Carolina, he teaches Cardiopulmonary Exercise physiology, performs research on a wide-range of performance-related topics including BFR, human resilience, ergogenic aids, vascular physiology, and more.
As a practitioner and educator, Sten has worked with high-level Olympic athletes and elite military personnel regarding BFR training and presents on BFR-related content and application throughout the country. Sten has recently accepted a tenure-track assistant professorship at The University of South Carolina in the Exercise Science Department.
"As someone who has spent years in the field of exercise physiology and athletic performance, I can confidently say that the Trevor's Marathon Conditioning Program is an exceptional program. From its evidence-based approach to its focus on long-term athletic development, this program provides athletes of all levels with the tools necessary to reach their full potential.
One of the standout features of this program is its emphasis on individualized training. The workouts are tailored to meet the specific needs of each athlete, ensuring that every individual is able to maximize performance gains while minimizing the risk of injury. The program seamlessly integrates power, endurance, mobility, and recovery into one cohesive framework, making it both comprehensive and highly effective.
Moreover, Trevor’s expertise is second to none. His knowledge of biomechanics, periodization, and recovery strategies sets them apart as leaders in the field. They provide clear, actionable feedback, helping athletes understand the “why” behind every movement, which leads to more engaged and motivated training sessions.
Additionally, the program’s use of cutting-edge technology to track progress and adjust training variables adds an extra layer of precision that is crucial for peak performance. The ability to monitor workload, recovery, and progress in real-time ensures that athletes are always progressing in a safe and sustainable manner.
Overall, the Merritt Marathon Conditioning Program is an outstanding program that I highly recommend for any athlete serious about improving their performance. The results speak for themselves—those who commit to this program will undoubtedly see significant gains, both physically and mentally."
